I did this cake in a class a few weeks ago. Its a two tier chocolate cake, covered in ivory sugarpaste with a rose and hydrangeas on it. Simple and elegant!

Rose in bloom
What's in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;
This rose though, doesn't smell sweet, it tastes sweet as it is made out of edible flower paste. I am not into flowers but enjoyed doing this one. After all, a rose is a rose!

Hello Kitty 8th birthday
Happy 8th birthday to my daughter Maria. It is unbelievable how the years fly, at times I can't believe that she's mine (mostly when she's being a monster and I want to disown her). I used modelling paste for the hello kitty model and the disco hologram glitter on her dress is edible. Happy with the cake, though I didn't let anyone eat the hello kitty! :-)

Cake in a cup for someone who didn't want a cake!
I had to really rack my brains for this one. For my friend who doesn't like cakes for birthdays, I baked cake in a mug! Was praying all along that the mug doesn't snap off into pieces and here's the result...

Back to school
Isn't it amazing what those three words do to mothers? Ahh...the bliss of a few hours of silence! I do not envy the poor teachers who are now probably going looney with my chatty 7 year old and hence sent them cupcakes along with my girls! :-)
I made the miniature apples, books and crayons in advance. A warning though, do not use the edible pen when the sugar paste hasn't dried out. It will ruin the pen as well as your fondant.
